Labeling classes ( Reflection )

Minjin and I came to school on Wednesday in order to put labels to the classes.

While I was making labels, I found that there are a lot of features that I can apply which are not a supplied design by power point. Thus I thought that it will be a good idea for language department such as French, Spanish, English and German if the labels have each flag into the subject names. So I put french flag, British flag and Spanish flag and German flag into the subject names. I was not sure what to do with English but since BIS is british school, I decided to put British flag into the name. After making all the labels, I felt I have developed my power point skills 

When Mr Parker had a look at the labels before using laminators, he suggested using Deutsch instead of German and the same for other language department. Also, Russian was done by Minjin and since she did not put Russian flag into the name, I decided to change it with Russian flag. Also, Mr Parker said that nowadays, English is not only for British people so he said he thinks that putting British flag in English department is not right. Thus I thought it will be good to put the world flags to the name. In order to print some labels again, I went to the ICT room again and changed them. From this point, I considered of ethical implications.

After changes, Mr Parker satisfied with all the labels and then we started laminating labels. It was a new activity to undertake to me. However, the way to use the laminator was easy. I needed enough lamination papers and what we all needed to do was put the paper with the labels straightly to the machine and let it do itself. We found out that if we pushed into the laminator or pull out the paper that is laminating, it is likely to be warped. Using laminator was new challenge for both of us and from this activity we developed new skills as well as increased awareness of strengths and areas for growth. 

After cutting all the labels, we collaboratively put labels either on the door or on a wall.
Now we had taken picture of emergency evacuation map in order to make the floor map with class names to help new students and parents.

Badminton ( Reflection )

Minjin and I tried collaboratively to collect people to the badminton club but only 4 people had come to the club including me and her. So the plan to have a tournament couldn't be done due to the lack of people.

However, we played a game in 2 groups and my team with Mr Gray lost the game. After the game, he suggested to learn a proper badminton skills to me. He told me that I have to know how to do backhand clear. I had no idea what the skills are and didnt also know that there are proper way to catch a racket. He threw a shuttlecock to me and I tried to use backhand clear in order to hit the shuttlecock which came from the other side of my hand. I felt more comfortable to hit the shuttlecock. Firstly, it was a little bit hard to get used to using backhand clear but I became better and better to hit the shuttlecock as the number of trials increased. Now I confidently hit the shuttlecock using backhand clear.

So from this training,

I increased awareness of strengths and areas for growth, 

Undertook new challenge 

And finally Developed new skills .

Labeling Classrooms & Making a floor map (Plan)

Minjin and I had an idea to label classrooms with its subject because we thought that new students or parents generally have difficulties to find a specific class when they come to BIS for the first time.

Using power point, we decided to decorate the subjects.
We made some subject labels and decided to print them out in school.
Also, Mr Parker suggested to laminate the labels in order to keep them for a long time.
Challenging power point skills and using a laminator will develop my skills and challenging a new activity.

Moreover, Mr Parker wanted to have the floor map of the school, I decided to make one as well. It is a new challenge for me and since it takes time to draw, I will be able to  show perseverance and commitment as well as developing new skills.

Badminton (Plan)

Minjin and I were planning to have a last badminton club on this Tuesday.
So on Monday, we tried to call some people to the badminton club.
Also, we planned to have a tournament with students.
I also thought that it would be a good idea to practice some proper badminton skills if possible.

Jogging 1

From April, the weather became really good that all the snow that didn't melt down until March melt away, and the temperature was quite high that I suddenly changed my clothing. Therefore, I decided to go to a park near my house for jogging. It was fresh and since I didn't exercise a lot during the winter, I felt that I went a little bit feeble. So I was more enthusiastic in jogging. I jogged one round and it took about 20 minutes. I thought that I should come to the park more and jog when I get stressed about studying and when my mind becomes complicated. Next time, I want to jog with my sister because she said that she will go on a diet. 

The learning outcomes are 

Increased awareness of strengths and areas for growth
Showing perseverance and commitment
Developing new skills

Piano

I started working on a new score called 'he is a pirate' which was played in a film 'Pirates of the Caribbean'. It is a complicated score since it should be played in a fast pace. I am now playing the first page for several times. I most of the time played new age, a type of piano genre which is generally quiet and calm, but suddenly I wanted to challenge to more noisy and exciting piece while I was searching for new score.

I have been playing for 3 days and now I can play the first page well. So now I want to keep working on other pages. Since I have started working on new type of score, it was hard at first but now I am quite confident about my playing. Thus, I felt happy when I completed the first page and because of it, I was happy to move on to the next page.

From this activity..

I increased awareness of strengths and areas for growth since I knew that other types of genre are not as hard as I thought before I had tried.

I undertook new challenges since it is the first time to work on the new genre.

I showed perseverance and commitment because I had to endure the process that I had taken to complete the first page

Developing new skills because I found out my own ways to move my fingers faster.

Winter activity day





   We had a winter activity day in our school in order to provide young kids to have fun with snow. Yr 12 and yr 13 had to have an activity on that day. Students thought of some activities that they could do. There were drawing on the snow, obstacle course, quiz and movies. But I decided to take photos of activities so that I can provide pictures to yr 13 for uploading CAS blog.





 Firstly, I started with the inside activities. I took some photos of students who were giving free cocoas and free biscuits to other students and teachers. Then I went outside and took photos of obstacle course, drawing on snow, and also some activities from yr 12. After break time, I went to the gym and also took some photos and videos.










 After all activities have finished, yr 13 tried to clean up the mess outside and inside. I helped people cleaning up some stuff used for the activities. Moreover, some students tried to remove snow from the road so that people can walk safely. I took some photos of them as well. At home, I uploaded photos that I took to the IB 13 group on facebook so people who need for their cas could use them.



From this activity,
I have undertaken a new challenge because I have never tried to take photos for others. Also since I cleaned up the mess with other students, I worked collaboratively with others. At last, I have developed my skills and also increased awareness of strengths because I felt confident in taking photos more professionally after this activity.
